Easy Fish Fry Recipe

1.Fish Fry

Fish Fry


  • 5 grams chilli powder
  • 1 piece chopped chilles
  • 1 springs coriander leaves
  • 10 grams coriander pdr
  • 1 springs curry leaves
  • 4 piece fish
  • 10 grams ginger garlic paste
  • 5 piece lemon Juice
  • 10 ml oil
  • 1 pinch turmeric

Method for the Fish Fry recipe

Step-1:-Prepare the Fish

  • Take catfish bass or kingfish or prefer reversal than any other fish.
  • Here it’s taken fish tons of catfish idan is a cut that is across the bone and in round in shape and the thickness that of your finger.
  • Wash the fish under running cold water to clean it after that pat it with a napkin or a towel to extract any of unnecessary moisture.

Step-2:-Prepare Marination

  • Prepare marination by adding little turmeric, coriander powder, chili powder, short curry leaves and mix it. Keep it in the fridge so that it evenly coats the fish.
  • Add little chopped coriander and chopped green chilies, little ginger garlic paste.
  • Use 1/2 a TSP of ginger-garlic paste and salt, little bit oil in this marination. Use lemon juice to the marinade. Mix all the ingredients and then pour it on the fish and then coat the fish evenly. Try to use marination very little and a right quantity.
  • Use little all-purpose fluff to the marinated fish, which has a coating that holds the marination to the fish and doesn’t fall apart when it fry.
  • Now let the fish marinate for 15 minutes. So that the juices go in as soon as we grill it.

Step-3:-Fry the Fish

  • Control the amount of oil while grilling as oil already added during marination. In fact the catfish has some oil to it.
  • Cook it in a medium heat. Don’t put it at a very high heat and on the medium heat, cook it like for around 7 to 8 minutes.
  • The best way to know if the fish is done or not, is to take a spoon or a fork and on the river side, touch it near the bone if the meat is falling apart from the bone that indicates that the fish is done.
  • Turn the other side and cook the fish on the other side on a medium heat for a few more seconds after around 7-8 minutes.
  • Now your fish fry is ready to serve.

2.Vanjaram Fish Fry

  • Vanjaram Fish
  • Chili Powder -2 tsp,
  • Black Pepper -1 tsp,
  • Lemon Juice -1 (Do not add seeds),
  • Salt,
  • Turmeric powder -1/2
  • Coriander powder -1 tsp
  • Oil

Method for the Fish Fry recipe

Step-1:-Prepare the Fish

  • Take Vanjaram Fish is a cut that is across the bone and in round in shape and the thickness that of your finger.

Step-2:-Make Fry Masala

  • Add Chili Powder -2 tsp, Black Pepper -1 tsp, Lemon Juice -1 (Do not add seeds), salt, turmeric powder -1/2. Mix all together by adding some water.
  • Pour chili powder -1 tsp and coriander powder -1 tsp again. Add some water and make a paste.

Step-3:-Prepare Marination

  • Take a piece of fish and apply the paste. Spread across the fish.
  • Apply paste on fish pieces and keep aside.
  • Apply paste on all pieces and rest this for 1 hour.

Step-4:-Fry the Fish

  • Heat tawa and add oil.
  • Add fish pieces and let it cook.
  • Flip it to other side.
  • Cook for 4 to 5 mins.
  • Same way cook all pieces.
  • Now your Vanjaram Fish Fry is ready to serve.

3.Kerala Fish Fry

Kerala Fish Fry


  • 3 pieces of Indian Salmon (or Pomfret or King Mackerel),
  • Coconut Oil
  • For the Spice Paste:-
  • 6 Madras Onions,
  • 10-12 Curry Leaves,
  • 2 tbsp Red Chilli Powder,
  • ½ tsp. Turmeric Powder,
  • 1 tbsp. Coriander Seed Powder roasted,
  • ½ tsp. Black Pepper Powder,
  • 1 inch Garlic,
  • 1 tbsp. Tamarind Paste,
  • Salt

Method for the Fish Fry recipe

Step-1:-Prepare Paste

  • Put some small madras onions, few curry leaves, 2 tablespoons of chili powder, little turmeric, 1 tablespoon of roasted coriander seed powder, 1/2 teaspoon of pepper powder, an inch of garlic, a tablespoon of thick tamarind paste in a mixer grinder and grind this to a nice fine paste with some salt.
  • This will take a little more time to grind because the ingredients are really less.


  • Apply this paste to the pieces of fish.

Step-3:-Fry the Fish

  • Put a pan to heat. Pour some coconut oil on the pan and heat it and keep the flame on a low.
  • Just place the fish in the oil.
  • Use a banana leaf and put a square of the banana leaf and then put the fish on it. After 3 minutes fry it on one side. Just turn the fish and see the color, which will not be changed, much the redness will still there.
  • The Kerala Fish Fry is ready now. Let’s remove it in a serving platter.
  • This fish can be had with rice and dal or you can have it with curd rice or you can just have it simply as a starter. But on the days when you’re dieting and you’re having a no crab meal so this makes an amazing option to have this dish.

4.Fish Fry Masala

  • Any big size fish i.e. Rohu Fish- 300 grams,
  • Garlic Cloves 20-25 Pcs,
  • Ginger 1/2 TSP,
  • Green Chili 6 Pcs (You can adjust the qty),
  • Green Coriander 3 TBSP,
  • Lemon juice 1 TBSP,
  • Salt as per taste,
  • Turmeric Powder 1/2 TSP+1/4 TSP,
  • Red Chili Powder 1 TSP (You can adjust the qty),
  • Coriander Powder 1 TSP,
  • Black pepper 1/2 TSP,
  • Yoghurt 1/8 Cup,
  • Maida 1/4 Cup,
  • Corn flour 1/8 cup,
  • Food Color 1 Pinch,
  • Milk 1/2 Cup,
  • Oil for fry

Method for the Fish Fry recipe


  • Punch fish pieces with toothpicks.

Step-2:-Make Paste

  • Add garlic cloves, ginger, green chili, green coriander, lemon juice and make a paste.
  • To marinate fish pieces make a paste. Take salt, Turmeric Powder, Red Chili Powder ,Coriander Powder, Black pepper, Yoghurt and the paste which already made.
  • Add Maida, Corn flour, Turmeric Powder, Food color (optional) (to make attractive color), milk and mix well to make a thicker paste for crispy and spicy fish. Add milk gradually to make a thicker paste.

Step-3:-Marinate the Fish.

  • Keep the marinated fish in refrigerator for 1 hour.

Step-4:-Fry the Fish.

  • Apply the paste on the fish well and fry the fish each side for 5-6 minutes in a lower flame.
  • Now your fish fry masala is ready to serve and enjoy it.

5.Pomfret Fish Fry

Pomfret Fish Fried


  • 3 Medium sized Pomfrets,
  • ½ cup Semolina,
  • ¼ cup Gram flour,
  • 4 tbsp. Red chilli powder,
  • 1 tsp. Turmeric powder,
  • 1 tsp. Ginger garlic,
  • Chilli crush,
  • Asafoetida 1 tbsp,
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp.,
  • Salt,
  • 1 Lemon (juice)

Method for the Fish Fry recipe

Step-1:-Prepare the Fish

  • Wash the fish nicely and clean it well under running tap water. Keep that aside.

Step-2:-Prepare Marination:-

  • In a bowl, add red chili powder, some turmeric, some coriander powder, a generous pinch of asafetida (this helps digestion), some ginger garlic and green chili which coarsely crushed, some lemon juice, some salt to taste and mix well.

Step-3:-Marinate the fish

  • Pat in the marination well on the fish covering the whole fish and allow it to marinate for ten minutes.

Step-4:-Fry the Fish

  • Add Oil in a pan and heat on moderate flame.
  • While the oil is heating up, mix semolina and gram flour together, add a little bit of salt and mix this well.
  • Take this mixture in a plate and dab the fish into this.
  • Turn it over and continue thus the excess off and transfer this in hot oil.
  • Once all the pieces of fish are placed in oil turn the flame to moderately.
  • After minute or so give the fish a flip and fry it on the other side for another minute or so.
  • Serve hot with onion and lemon slices. Sprinkle some chaat masala on the top.

6.Crispy Fish Fry Recipe

Crispy Fish Fry Recipe


  • Haddock fillet 1.2kg,
  • salt 2g / 1/4 teaspoon,
  • Black pepper 1g / 1/8 teaspoon,
  • All purpose flour 70g / 1/2cup,
  • Oil for frying,
  • All purpose flour 150g / 1cup,
  • Corn starch 75g / 1/2cup
  • Baking powder 4g / 1 teaspoon,
  • Salt 2g / 1/4 teaspoon,
  • Baking soda 1g / 1/4 teaspoon,
  • Chili powder 1g / 1/4 teaspoon,
  • White vinegar 2g / 1/4 teaspoon,
  • Garlic 2g / 1 clove,
  • Salt 1g / 1/8teaspoon,
  • Sour cream 50g / ¼, cup,
  • Milk 15g / 1 tablespoon

Method for the Fish Fry recipe

Step-1:-Prepare Fish

  • Just make sure the fish is dry. Simply cut the fish into big pieces or slice it open if the fillet is too thick.
  • First, add some salt and pepper.
  • To make the fish even drier, use the flour to coat the first layer.

Step-2:-Make Batter

  • Before making the batter, heat up the oil first.
  • Corn starch reduces the gluten structure. Makes the breading less chewy and baking.
  • Soda not only helps creating the tiny bubbles but also darkens the color.
  • Of course the chilli powder is always optional.
  • When you add water to the dry ingredients, make sure you don’t pour in all at once.
  • So you can feel and see the thickness of the batter.
  • When you pull it up, the batter won’t break. That means it is ready.
  • At last, add vinegar. Vinegar reacts with the baking soda and generates tiny bubbles inside the batter. It is the bubble that makes the breading crispy and that is the reason why adding vinegar at last to save the bubbles stay in their places.
  • Grab a little bit fish with your fingers. Dip it onto the batter.
  • Remove the excess.
  • Then drop it onto the dry flour one more time.
  • After flipping few times, you can clearly see the wrinkles on the top of the fish.
  • Now it’s the time to fry it.

Step-3:-Fry the Fish

  • Make Oil temperature is 350 Fahrenheit.
  • Drop the oil on top of the fish to help the wrinkles to set.
  • You know it’s ready when you see the golden brown color.
  • Remove the excess oil with a kitchen towel.

Step-4:-Make tart sauce

  • The tart sauce can be easily made with garlic, salt and the sour cream.
  • First flavor the garlic with the salt first and then add sour cream and a little bit milk.


  • Heat up the oil and fry it one more time. Double fried fish is even crisper than the single fried.
  • Serve the Crispy Fish Fry with tart sauce and enjoy it.
